Beach Day Mini Album

Hello there!

Today I wanted to share with you a mini album I made using the July Design kit from The Paper Niche. There were so many yummy Authentique papers in this kit and I just knew they needed to be converted into a mini album.

I constructed this mini album from scratch, like I usually do, but this time I DID NOT use any chipboard to make it. I only used really nice card stock, and it's really sturdy and strong, because with paper layering and the pocket pages I created on the inside.

Sunshine and Happiness

Happy Monday everyone!

One more layout to share with you using The Paper Niche's July Design kit. This kit was so fun to work with, all the items included were so colorful and so versatile!

I'm so loving banners lately, and cannot stop using them on almost all the projects I create. This layout is of my Emily at the park. She absolutely loves to go to the park and run and climb. The park for her is all about sunshine and happiness! She's growing up so fast!

Red White and Blue

Hi everyone!

Hope you're all having a nice summer time. Today I wanted to share another "patriotic" layout. I used The Paper Niche's July Design Kit to put this together, but I added one type of embellishment from my stash. You see, I wanted to create the "look" of fireworks at the top of the layout, since this was my daughter's first 4th of July part, and we saw the fireworks that night.

I used beaded sprays from my stash at the top of the page to simulate the fireworks. They were the perfect colors for the layout, and I really liked the way the light reflected on the beads, so I went ahead and added them.

All the papers you see here are from Authentique's Brave Collection. Love the Webster's pages fabric lollie flowers, as well as the Prima roses used on the bottom of the layout.

I layered some lace and added a banner across the top of the layout, which I cut myself with some detail scissors, and hung on a twine line. I used the two kinds of alphas included in the kit for both the title and small journaling lines. I distressed the big white alpha letters with my Distress Inks in the colors Weathered Wood and Antique Linen.
Simple, sweet ,and right to the point. I've been wanting to scrap these pictures for a long time, and   these were the perfect papers to use. Hope you liked it!

American Girl: a 12 by 12 layout

Hi everyone! Hope all of you in the United Stated had a great 4th of July day yesterday. It was fun spending time with family and watching the fireworks, but even better to have my husband home from work all day together with us. I just love having him home!

Today, still in the spirit of Independence Day, I wanted to share a layout I created using The Paper Niche's July Design kit, which had some great pattern paper, perfect for patriotic projects.

Banners are very trendy at the moment and I can't seem to get enough of them. These papers were just perfect to scrap this picture, where my Emily is holding the American flag...my little American girl, proudly made in the U.S.A. lol!

Masculine Layout: Handsome

Happy Friday everyone!

Today is the day I'll share the last  layout I created using The Paper Niche's June Design Kit. This was definitely one of my favorites to make and I really love how it came out. Unlike what you read on my last post, I ams really loving this one! (if you have no idea what I'm talking about, you might have missed my last post. Just scroll down and read the whole story for yourself, and enjoy as I make fun of myself! lol).

Everything on this layout was included in the kit, and I used a white paint pen (Shapie is my favorite!),  after being inspired by someone on the MME blog who brought out the accents on their craft colored paper this way. With my pen, I added a lot of details on both the paper, and the embellishments on this layout. 

I did a ton of layering, and my white pen also came in handy to change the colors of the Thicker letters I used for the title .

The white all over the page just makes everything pop and I love it!

TAKE NOTE: On the video, the first layout's title is unfortunately misspelled....I did not notice it until it was too late (glossy accents had dried! ugh!) and after fixing, it I did not have time to redo the video. However, the video still gives all details you need to know, and gives close ups of everything. I hope you enjoy anyways. The correctly spelled layout is the one I just shared on this post. Three Generations- Embracing imperfection!

It's Wednesday today, and I wanted to share another one of the layouts I created with The Paper Niche's June Design kit. For this one, I tried something totally different from what I'm usually used to doing, and I have to confess, I'm not sure I like it, nor love it, like I do most of the things I create.... As I'm typing here, I'm trying to convince myself it's ok, and it's not too messy hahaha.... I was going for an "old, vintage, distressed" layout....like the kind of page you find in one of your super old albums from back in the day when you had no clue about a "acid free" and "specialty" cardstock....I thought adding the FabScrap distressed paper in the back would definitely evoke that feeling...the picture I used was the reasoning for all this as it looked faded and old...... I did however want to bring out some of the color in the picture, which is the reason of all the red on this layout...and that's where I went all WRONG! lol

As I'm looking at the picture of the layout right now as I type, I think I might have done without the middle red border...it kind of stands out way too much and just adds anther pattern repetition (circles) that competes way too much for my taste with my chicken wire sponged background.......it's just not vintage looking.....I might just rip it off completely....I'm not sure just yet....hahaha the things you realize after you take some pictures, huh? 

I want to post it as is, because like Tim Holtz says, it's good to embrace imperfection sometimes...and also, it's good to share that not everything ends up turning out as perfect as you want it to on your first try.  

I get a lot of emails from people asking for advice, for ideas, and recommendations, and also explaining how frustrated they get when their projects don't turn out the way they hoped for. This post is my way of sharing how it happens to me too sometimes, and is my way of saying: YOU are NOT alone :)

I used several of my Lindy's Stamp Gang products to alter the chipboard flourishes that I included on the layout. I love spraying Starburst Stains and adding shimmery embossing powders to change the look of the chipboard elements I use on my layouts. Love all the texture.

There is tons of distressing, layering, and color, as well as detail I did using my white paint pen on this layout. For the white chicken wire sponged background I used a stencil included in the kit.

I hope you enjoyed today's post...It might not be my favorite layout, but I'm so happy I got to share my experience, and thought process behind it. Just like Tim, I'm embracing my imperfections!

Fun times- a 12 by 12 Layout

Happy Monday!

I'm in the middle of a few things today, but I  to take a moment and share with you this layout I made using the Paper Niche's June kit. Super masculine kit and I had fun creating different projects with it.

I embossed all the chipboard pieces using Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing power and a little bit of black embossing powder. If you follow my blog, you know I love mixing embossing powders when embossing, and I love the finished look.

I did a lot of detail accents with a white pen as you can see in the close ups...

I totally love the bright colors on this layout and how it turned out in the end. I'll share more of my layouts this week, for now I gotta run! See you back soon!

A Vintage Truck

Good afternoon everyone! 

Today I'm sharing with you this easel card I made using the Paper Niche's June Design kit. I saw someone use Tim Holtz's Die in one of their cards like this on Pinterest, and I just had to make my own car. For mine I made an easel card, and I love ow it turned out :)

Everything you see in here is from the kit. The car pieces I colored using Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in the color Golden Lump go Coal...I also added some "wood patterned" pieces of card stock from the kit to add some "wood grain" the top of the car. I stuck pinks int he back of the truck for some metal "load", and one of the pins I took apart and used the pieces for the handle of the door and the headlight of the car.

The clouds you see here I made from one of the fabric flowers that was in the kit. I just cut the flower in half and glued the petals to the top of the card as clouds. Om to of them I added a wooden banner piece from the kit, which I embellished using some twine from the kit as well.

In the inside of the card, pretty simple, just some pattern paper on dimensional adhesive to help the top of the card stand, more twine and just some black card stock.  In the corner an embossed image from one of my Technique Tuesday's stamps. OOPS!

Hi everyone!

Today I wanted to share with you two layouts I created using the May Design Kit available at the Paper Niche. I totally thought I had set these to automatically post on here last month, but checking back on my draft posts today, I saw they never posted, gasp! And of course, from not seeing them posted on the blog, I never uploaded the video I made of these and all their detail either!!! Not to panic, better late than never, here they are! They are completely different from each other, but I used the exact same kit of materials to make them. LOVE the versatility of the Paper Niche Kits!

So sorry for the late posting of these, but I hope you enjoyed them. I'll be putting up what I made with the June Design kit really soon as well. Super Cute Together Mini Album

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend.

Today I wanted to share with you a mini album I created from scratch using the Paper Niche's May Design Kit. I used thin weight black chipboard to make this whole album base. I also included an acrylic page in the album, which is an addition I like to include in many of the albums I create.

Using the DIY Thicker letters included in the kit, I incorporated some micro-beads to my project. I haven't used micro beads in ages, and thought the Thickers would look really cool with them. Here's a close up of how they ended up looking.

May Sneak Peeks!

It's been quite a busy couple of days for me, and there is still so much I need to get done. It finally stopped raining so the sun is shinning and we can actually go outside without getting soaked. Yippie!

Lovely Kiss

Hello everyone!

I don't know about where you are, but over here we're about to float away! It has been raining for days, and there is no sign of it stopping any time soon...our lake is going to have to be pumped because it's about to overflow, and well, it is humid as can be around here. Hoping next week is a little better so we can go out of the house, and enjoy the park a little...all I hear every afternoon is " Mommy playground, playground!", and well, we can't go to the playground because is wet and muddy. When I say that she gets all excited and says "Muddy puddles!" lol.

I'm back today to share another one of the layouts I created with The Paper Niche's April Design Kit. Truly love the look of this one, because it's simple, yet so girly and distressed looking. Huge banners like this are my favorite thing right now, and I love the look of them on this layout.

It's a sweet moment, caught on camera by my hubby. Totally love it!

This is Me

Hi everyone!

Today I come with a quick post because I'm super exhausted. My Emily has been really ill for the last two days, and well, my heart aches seeing her go through what she's going through. I haven't slept for two days, and neither has she, so you can imagine ....I did however have these photos ready to post so  decided to upload this project for you. It's another layout I created using the Paper Niche's Design Kit. Love the Prima background paper, but most of all the wood embellishments and Glitz rhinestones included in the kit.

I hope to be back soon with more projects, and pray that my baby gets better soon. It's killing me seeing her so sick... Hope you are having a better week than me!

Laugh Out Loud!

Hi there! Today I wanted to share a quick 2 page layout I created using The Paper Niche's April Design kit. Love all the Glitz Pretty In Pink paper included in the kit, and I used several of them on this layout.

The banner is cut out of light weight chipboard with an Accucut banner die, and I colored it using my Starburst Stains from Lindy's Stamp Gang in the colors Hottie Patottie Hot Pink and Alpine Ice Rose. I mixed them to get the perfect shimmered color I wanted for this fun banner.

I stamped the background of the dark cardstock I used with a very subtle pink color (Colorbox Pink Rose Chalk Ink), using the Kaiser Craft stamp included in the kit. I wanted subtle texture, and this stamp did just that for my background when I used very light ink with it.

I used the Tim Holtz rosette dies to make the paper rosettes you see throughout the layout also.

Some of the beautiful trim included in the kit also made it to the this layout, like that thin brown velvet trim on top of the photos, and the cream lace trim on top of the banner. The gems on top of the rosettes were also from the kit, and my favorite gem embellishment in the market so far. They are super elegant and reflect light so nicely. I'm just in love them! Today I want to share two great news with you guys... the time has come to finally spill the beans!
