Happy Easter!

Hello everyone and Happy Easter! Today I wanted to share this cute Easter layout for the April Layout Hop hosted by Zoe (her link is at the end of the post). This layout was just perfect for today and I couldn't wait to show you. Again, my favorite color combo :)

I of course have yet to fill in the little banners with the date and her name, but sometimes, I just leave that for right before I put the layout in the album hehe. I used My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline Collection again which I really really like!  (Hottie Doody), and I just LOVE this picture of my Emily! (Gosh, do I say that about every picture of her?? lol).

I also used some embellishments from one  the older My Minds Eye Lost and Found Collections, which has similar colors to their current collections, and I think everything went together perfectly.

The trim you see on the bottom, was originally white, but I used my Lindy's Stamp Gang Spays to stain them a nice color to match my layout. I love being able to customize my embellishments.

Tim Holtz Altered Printer's Tray

Yay! I'm finally able to show you my finished printer's tray. It took me long enough, considering I started it back in the beginning of October! I started this project at the Tim Holtz Cruise last fall, but ever since I got back, I never touched the thing, and well, all my supplies were everywhere making me crazy. I finally got to it and finished it all, and I'm very happy how it turned out. Completely different from what  I usually do, but just right for me too :)

Easter is just around the corner, but where are the bunnies?

Hi everyone! There will be no bunnies on this post, that's for sure! This is the 12 by 24 layout I created for the March Layout Hop over on YouTube. I was inspired by a beautiful layout created by the wonderful Beatriz Guzman at my local scrapbook store, and when I saw the color combo, I knew I had to recreate it in some way...make the layout my own to keep forever, and so I did! 

I changed the base of the layout, added a different pattern in the back, and added different accents, played around with different embellishments, and ended up with this:

I used some of the My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline paper, and embellishments----mainly the Houdy Doody Collection, and let me tell you, this has to be my favorite color combo of ALL TIME!!!!

My Emily's first Easter shots went perfect with this color combo! It was just meant to be and I just adore the finished look of it all.

I used Recollections and Prima Flowers, as well as small resin mushrooms from Prima's Shabby Chic Treasures line.

I also punched out some borders on some on the edges with an EK Success punch, and added some Prima lace, and Eva Creative bling.

The pictures of my Emily are so precious....what a baby face!

2 Announcements and some Sneaks!

Hi there! 

Today I want to share two great news with you guys... the time has come to finally spill the beans! The first news, you probably already know if you are a loyal follower of my blog, and saw when I added the new logo underneath my Design Team  heading here on the blog.  I have been asked to be a part of the Design Team for a great new Canadian company called Sweet Nothings Stamp Co.

My Pocket Watch...

Hello everyone!
Among all the stuff I've been cleaning out of my computer (I have been trying to clear out some of the memory), I've found several projects I failed to share with you on here, so I'll be sharing them in the next couple of days. I still have to say that I'm not completely convinced on what I'm going to do regarding my computer...I've managed to get it going, but I'm sure It's not going to be working for me for too much longer for what I need it, so even though I didn't have plans for it, I might have to change it up boo hoo! You see, I have other plans set out for later in the year God willing, and well, a new computer doesn't happen until those plans happen, just because I'm a "planner" like that lol. I'm hoping things go as I've been praying for, and then I'll be more than happy to get a new set up, as well as a few other things I have on my wish list, when everything happens like I want it to. I'll also share what the plans are, when they are more "set in stone" sort of speak lol. Hoping for the best!
I also wanted to address the fact  that I promised a while back to start up some sort of challenge here on the blog (remember, back when I started my Super Simple Series?), well  I just wanted to say I have not forgotten about that, it's just that well, there are so many things I want to do, and not that many hours in the day. I'll get to it. I promise :)

Ok, back to today's post. I wanted to share with you one of the projects I created and forgot to post, my Tim Holtz Pocket Watch. 

I never thought I'd make one, and to be honest, when Tim came out with it, I wasn't too crazy about it, but I have to admit, it was quite fun making it, and the challenge of embellishing something so tiny was a good one to take on. This was one of the projects I completed on the cruise and I'm happy with the outcome.

I used Graphic45's Steampunk Debutante paper for the background, some of Tim Holtz's metal petals and leaves, one of Tim's Type Charms, and some words from copy paper cut out, and glued on with dimensionals. As you can see, I altered the metal pieces, changed their color using different colored  Ranger Dabber Paints, and I love the look of the paint on the metal pieces. It definitely changed the whole look of the pieces.

It makes a great necklace. Actually a pretty cool one, but I decided I would incorporate it into another project I worked on, and I'll share that completed project soon. I'm working on editing the pictures this week. Thanks for stopping by!

What have you been up to? Any new projects you've been working on? Any new techniques you have discovered? I'd love for you to share with me what's been going on in your neck of the woods hehe. Over on my side, lots has been going on. I have several projects that I have completed, and I'm really exited to share,  I finally just finished recording the Micro Fine Glitter tutorial that I promised I would do, but at the same time, I've been having major issues with my computer since last week argh!!!!
It's amazing how much I use this little gadget, and how much it affects my overall daily "doings" when it's not working like it's supposed to.

I was diligent, and immediately took her for a check up at the Apple store, thinking they'd run a scan, find out the problem, and fix it, but to my surprise, the way to fix the problem, is basically buying a new computer! Sigh.
I could have replaced it that same day if I wanted to, thank God, but I found myself coming back home with my old mac, and with a head full of questions... I'm always very cautious when buying new "technology"......I've been wanting a desktop, but love the convenience of my laptop, but with the new iPad, I've been thinking about that as well...I know I cannot do many of the things I do on my computer right now on the ipad, because basically it's not made for that kind of work, but I do love the portability and features of the it... but at the same time, buying a new desktop, and an ipad, to add to the rest of the computer equipment in my house at the moment, well, does not sit too well with me. I have to make a choice, and that basically is my problem right now, which usually is followed by lots of reading and research. It's just the way I am...
Well, to make the story short, I've been having issues with my pictures, video editing, and so forth on my current computer, and can only share with you today a sneak peek at one of the projects coming up, of which I tool a picture with my iPhone. So for now, that's all I have. I'm oping to get to posting new projects  sometime before Thursday or Friday this week. I'm currently trying to get a handle of all the files on my hard drive.

Super Simple Friday: Happy Birthday To You

I was eager to stamp some images I hadn't been able to stamp from my new Stampin Up stamps sets, so I got them all out, and stamped away. I used my Marvy Markers which I hadn't used in a while and this is what came out. A bright and cheery birthday card.

For the embossed background I used one of my Stampin' Up embossing folders which I love. I definitely should use it more often. It truly gives a "linen/burlap fabric" look on the cardstock you use it on. This card barely had any dimension and it's perfect for mailing. Every single stamp I used is from Stampin' Up, the brads I received in a rak(random act of kindness) from a  friend, and the epoxy letters that spell DAD have been in my stash for a while. On the inside, very simple, just some more stamping and layering of the design paper, which is from the Splash Collection by Echo Park.

Birdhouse Box and Mini Album

Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend!

Today I wanted to share a box and mini album set I made for the Lindy's Stamp Gang booth at CHA this winter. I've never done a box for a mini album before, but this was perfect for the spring theme we had to work with. This first picture is what I turned the box into, 

but initially, the box looked something very similar to this one on this next picture....I bought it at one of my local TJ Maxx Stores, and it was made to hold stationary. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to do something with it.

I bought it, and turned it into what you saw, and made a small mini album that coordinates with it, to go right inside  it.

I made a video giving more details on each angle of both the box, and mini album. You can watch that HERE.  As you can see, I did the crackle technique on the box, using brown as my background, and ivory paint as my top color. I then sprayed the entire box with my Glitz Spritz in the color Scintillating Silver.

On the bottom I used some cardstock which I punched with one of my Martha Stewart border punches, and then embossed using Lindy's Stamp Gang Embossing Power in the color Byzantine Bronze. on top of the embossed paper lace I created, I added some cream colored crochet lace. Throughout the box I added butterfly accents, which I punched out of cardstock using some of my butterfly punches by Martha Stewart, and a Stampin up Bigz die. Some of the butterflies I sprayed with my Starburst Stain in the color A bit o'bubbly and then embossed with  Dandelion Yellow embossing powder for texture. Other butterflies I sprayed with Wild Honey Suckle Coral and Glory of the Seas Gold Starburst Stain, and then embossed with Hibiscus Rose Orange embossing powder.

 I added small bling pieces of bling to the centers of the butterflies, and more of the cream colored crochet lace on the roof of the box.

The accents on the side of the box are fabric dimensional accents from the Colorbok Flea Market Collection, which is the one I used to create the mini album that coordinates with the box.

The mulberry and canvas flowers you see in the front ot the box, and of the mini album where colored using Starburst Stains in the colors Tiffany's Blue and Cotton Candy Pink.
As you can see in the next pictures I continued adding butterfies, the flowers and the fabric accents to the mini album. I did that to tie it in together to the box.

I sprayed all the pages in the mini album, as well as all the accents on the cover of the mini with my Glitz Spritz in the color Scintillating Silver.

On the back of the box I added a big carstock sticker from the paper collection I used and added some cream lace in the back of it, just to accent the piece.

Spring Themed Shadow Box

I found this little box at the dollar store, and thought I could do something with it...I didn't know what at the time, but I knew it would be good for something, maybe a shadow box layout? Yes, that's exactly what I turned it into, and it went from this:

There was a lot I did to this box, and I love how it came out.... I had a picture of a garden on my mind, and I think I achieved it. What do you think?
First I prepped the box with guesso. After that dried, I applied a coat of brown acrylic paint. when that dried, I put a coat of crackle medium, and then some ivory acrylic paint, all to achieve the crackle finish you can see all over the box. After all that dried, I sprayed the entire box with Creme Brulee Cream Starburst Stain for some shimmer.
I used one of My Favorite Thing's banner dies, and cut out the banner from designer paper by Colorbok (Flea Market Collection). I then sprayed the banner pieces with Scintilating Silver Glitz Spritz, and afterwards added to the banner some Maya Road chipboard letters, which I sprayed with Cadbury Milk Chocolate Startburst Stain. In between each banner piece I added some tiny mulberry paper roses which I sprayed with different Starburst Stains:  Cotton Candy Pink and Alpine Ice Gold. Afterwards, I embossed the tips of these roses with some Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder in the color Hibiscus Rose Orange. LOVE embossing the tips of the petals of my flowers!

I also used some Lindy's Stamp Gang butterfly charm pieces, which I embossed with Dandelion Yellow embossing powder, and finished off with some white pearls on their centers.
I punched some butterflies out of cardstock using two different Martha Stewart butterfly punches. I then sprayed the butterflies with Icy Primrose Gold Starburst Stain, and sprinkled some embossing powder in the color Byzantine Bronze, just to add more texture and shimmer to them.

I used some glittered green sprays, as well as some vintage white bud sprays in the backgrouns, which I got at my local craft store. Behind the picture of my Emily I used a Kaiser Craft wood birdcage piece, which I sprayed with my Starburst Stain in the color Golden Lump of Coal. The stain gave it just the right touch of shimmer.

I filled in the rest of the box with different sized mulberry roses which I colored using my Starburst Stains in the following colors: Alpine Ice Rose, Tiffany's Blue, Wild Honey Suckle Coral and Scintilating Silver.

The wood stand that holds the box was also purchased at the dollar store. Can you believe it?
